Volunteer Opportunities

The Next Chapter Book Club provides volunteers an opportunity to meaningfully interact with others, while volunteering for a relatively short amount of time.  NCBC volunteer facilitators reap the benefits of giving back to one’s community, and most report their experience to be fulfilling beyond their expectations.

If you would like to volunteer with the Next Chapter Book Club, get involved today!

Facilitators

Each Next Chapter Book Club is facilitated by volunteers from the community. Our volunteers range in age from 18 to 85 and include students, parents, retirees, professionals, and people with disabilities.

Lisa Joseph is wearing a black T-shirt and has light brown, curly hair and a great smile.

Lisa Joseph co-facilitated the Next Chapter Book Club in Columbus from September 2005 to June 2007, when she graduated from The Ohio State University.

Jeff has dark hair, a mustache and goatee, and wears glasses and a black turtleneck. Bob is wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap and a blue shirt.

Jeff Siegel, left, facilitates a club that meets at the Lennox Barnes and Noble cafe in Columbus. Bob Krause, right, facilitates a sports club that meets at the Easton Target cafeteria.

NCBC facilitators receive individualized training, a volunteer facilitator manual, and ongoing assistance and support. Facilitators encourage participation, foster new friendships, and help members read and discuss the book for one hour each week. They also allow members to create the kind of book club they want for themselves. Facilitators are responsible for keeping track of attendance and participation, and reporting monthly to their program coordinator using the report form available on this website. Helpful links, tips, and other facilitator resources are also available.
